Palm Islands
Are a group of three artificial islands currently under construction, which are among the world's largest of its kind. On these islands, infrastructure build commercial and residential, it is expected to become a tourist destination. They are on the coast of the city of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The project will increase the surface about 520 km of beaches in Dubai and carries out the company Nakheel Properties, which in turn, has entrusted its construction and development of the Belgian company Jan de Nul and Van Oord Netherlands.
These islands are named for their shape: a date palm. They consist of three main sections:
• The trunk: Where is the main street of the island and main entrances are located. Also reaches the second part of the island called
• The fronds: Simulates the foliage of the palm and the three islands, this area will be exclusively for residential use.
• Growing: surrounds the island crescent-shaped (hence the name) and acts like a giant breakwater.
The Palm Jumeirah and Jebel Ali in their construction require 100 million cubic meters of rock and sand. The Palm Deira will have a volume of sand and rock ten times greater than that of the Palms Jumeirah and Jebel Ali.
The islands have large residential areas, villas, apartments, restaurants, theme parks, entertainment areas, marinas, shopping malls and luxury hotels. The names of the islands are Jumeirah, Jebel Ali and Deira.
